BMW executives hebben officieel bevestigd dat de Mini Roadster en Coupé daadwerkelijk in productie zullen gaan. Meer bepaald in de Mini fabrieken te Oxford. Dat wil zeggen dat beiden nu meer dan alleen een concept zijn. De concepten zelf zullen we te zien krijgen op de IAA in Frankfurt. In tegenstelling tot de Belgische fabrieken van de verschillende constructeurs, heeft het Mini fabriek dus zeer goede vooruitzichten. "The production of the two new MINI models is very good news for
Oxford, and for the UK car industry," Zo zei Business Secretary Lord Mandelson

"It is a demonstration of BMW's long term commitment to the UK as
it celebrates its 50th birthday this year. British drivers have had a
long love affair with the MINI and I'm sure that this will continue for
many years to come."

Het Mini-gezin wordt dus minder en minder 'Mini'. Het assortiment wordt alsmaar groter en BMW slaagt opnieuw in haar opzet.
